Quazi's Strategy:

The knife should be used as a last resort weapon, or a weapon to add a bit of style, when it comes to fighting on the land. It's a fun weapon to kill people with because, well, it's humiliating. However, if you find yourself out of ammo in your primary weapon, and your secondary weapon, and it's just you against the enemy, first, run and try to reload your pistol, if that doesn't work, then fly at your opponent... Notice, I did NOT say fly at your opponent swinging. The knife has a reset time to it. Too many times I have gotten down to a knife fight with an opponent. You should be patient and wait for your opponent to swing. Then you can rush in and click once and tag him in the head. Yes, aim for the head. It will kill in one hit. The knife doesn't send the enemy flying across the map anymore, so a hit to the head or at least the chest is necessary to do anything. The other case when the knife is extremely useful, is if you find yourself underwater. If you're underwater, you have two options to kill the person in the water with you. You could surface and pray you can hit the person with your weapon while you tread water, or you could swim at them as fast as you could... Yes, I didn't say "knife flying" here either. Why? The same rule applies. The well-placed, well-timed slice will kill your opponent while they slash away at your knees, or don't hit you at all if you time it right.

Quazi's Knife Notes:

Use the knife as a last resort, or if you just want to add a little style to your kill if you manage to sneak up on someone.
Time your hits, don't just run in there swinging. Wait until your enemy has swung then fly in and go for the head. You'll win most of the time if you dance a round a bit. Float like a butterfly first, you'll have time to sting like a bee.
Use the knife in the water, but follow the same rule of waiting to get the good hit in.

Side Note: The code of the melee weapon. Throughout the history of FPS games, the melee weapon was introduced as a last resort. When you and your opponent have run out of every way to kill each other, the knife is the only thing you have left. If your opponent has run out of ammo, there is an unwritten code that says, you should pull out your knife too. You probably don't see this too often, but when you do, and you kill your opponent with your knife, your opponent and you both will have a more satisfying battle. So, if someone is running at you swinging out of nowhere, feel free to kill him. But, if you've just battled someone to the bitter end, but you still have 3 rounds left in your pistol and they have their knife, follow the code and go for the knife. On the same token, if you come across your teammate and he's fighting another person with a knife (you'll know before you get to them by the sound) don't interfere. Your friend will probably not thank-you because he's engaged in a whole different aspect of the game. He's in a knife-fight. Watch them fight, or leave them be. Trust me, if you kill the opponent after the knife fight, both the fighters will appreciate it.
